After it was recovered, Chryse Guard Security used it as a power reactor; aside from the fact that its Ahab Reactors were still functional, this was done mainly because Barbatos' cockpit was missing when it was found. A new cockpit similar to the one used by the CGS mobile workers was installed prior to its redeployment by the 3rd Group. Poor maintenance over the centuries since the Calamity War has degraded the Barbatos' armor and full combat potential. This is later rectified by Teiwaz technicians, who not only restore the Barbatos to its original look, but also return its performance close to the original. Gundam units like the Barbatos are able to achieve a high energy output because they possess two Ahab Reactors. However because it is difficult to run them in parallel operation, only a total of 72 Gundam frames were ever produced. The burden experienced by the pilot is high as a result of the high output and maneuverability; however it's mitigated by the implementation of Inertial Control due to the use of Ahab Particles generated from the reactor when a phase transition occurs inside its vacuum device. The cockpit structure is positioned in front of the reactor to take advantage of this. Among the same frame machines, Barbatos has been adjusted for an emphasis on versatility, it has the potential to adapt to every circumstance by performing exchanges of all sorts of equipment. It can also use weapons and armor from defeated enemies to improve its fighting capabilities. (Ref.: Wiki) 기동전사 건담 철혈의 오펀스의 주연 건담. 파일럿은 미카즈키 오거스. 메카닉 디자이너는 와시오 나오히로. 개미 허리 건담 300년 전의 액제전(厄祭戦)에 사용된 72기 건담 프레임 중 1대이자 8호기로, 화성의 사막에서 오랫동안 방치되었다가 CGS의 동력로로 사용된 모빌슈트다. 대대적인 침공을 한 걀라르호른의 습격을 받은 CGS의 소년병들(이후의 철화단)이 급히 기동시켰다. 액제전 이후 오랜 시간이 흐른 탓에 장갑은 퇴화되고 성능도 본래의 성능을 발휘하지 못한다. 모든 건담들은 공통 규격 프레임으로 되어 있으며, 전에는 각 세력마다 다양한 건담들이 존재했었다고 한다. 발바토스는 72기 건담 프레임 중에서도 범용성을 중시한 조정이 특징으로, 각종 병기로 환장하여 다양한 환경에 적응할 가능성을 내포하고 있다. 싸울수록 적 기체의 장갑, 무기 등을 얻어 강해진다는 설정으로 극 중 스토리가 진행됨에 따라 점점 업그레이드가 예정되어 있다고 한다. 참고로 사진으로 가장 널리 알려진 형태는 제4형태. 본격 레벨업 하는 건담 주역기가 해당 세계관에서는 옛 유물이라던가, 중장갑으로 인해 타격병기가 주력이 되는 전장상황이라던가, 고성능의 프레임에 의지해서 이것저것 마개조해서 운용한다던가, 그에 따라 몇 형태 같은 식으로 구분한다던가 하는 점이 브레이크 블레이드 및 그 주역기인 델핑의 설정과 상당한 공통점을 보인다. 외형은 이름답게 악마같은 형상을 강조한 것으로 보인다. 메니퓰레이터는 손톱이 날카롭게 돋아 있으며 발 쪽에는 웬만해선 건담엔 없는 발톱도 달려있다. 카메라 아이 또한 대각선으로 비스듬히 장갑에 가려져 있어서 굉장히 날카로운 인상을 주고, 안테나도 통상의 V자 형상이 아닌 악마의 뿔을 연상시킬만한 거대한 W자 형상을 갖고 있다.
