This album was their biggest-selling, and their first to achieve Platinum status, going on to sell 5,000,000 copies and counting. It received high sales and critical acclaim on its release, and saw the band at their peak. It set a new benchmark for high production values, winning a Grammy for Best Engineered Non-Classical Recording. Multiple session musicians, many of whom they’d worked with on previous albums, were again brought in to contribute their best. The album was selected in 2010 to be included in the “United States National Recording Registry” as a significant contribution to American culture.
