Why people believe weird things | Michael Shermer

Lyn Buchanan, MA, is the executive director of Problems - Solutions - Innovations, a corporation based in Alamogordo, New Mexico. For over eight years, he participated in the Army's remote viewing program based at Fort Meade, Maryland. He is the author of The Seventh Sense: Secrets of Remote Viewing as Told By a Psychic Spy for the U.S. Military. In this wide-ranging discussion, Lyn Buchanan points out that the CRV method of remote viewing does not focus on how to become psychic. Rather, it assumes that the subconscious mind already has access to all information in space and time. The key is how to transfer this information to the conscious mind. He maintains that the sixth sense, the sense of ambience, is not a psychic sense at all -- but is a normal function of the human nervous system. Nevertheless it is part of advanced remote viewing training. New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980).
