Sheila the runaway sheep with overgrown wool was shorn by Tasmanian farmer Derek Turvey in Buckland, Monday, after he discovered the lost sheep on the side of the road last week. The sheep farmer shore Sheila in the hopes of breaking the Tasmanian record for the size of her overgrown fleece. The current Tasmanian record for the weight of fleece shorn from a sheep lies at 23.5 kg (lbs 52) of fleece, with the Australian record currently at 41 kg (90 lbs). Derek Turvey estimated that Sheila could be carrying up to 30 kg (66 lbs) of fleece. Unfortunately, Sheila's wool fell short of the record, weighing in at only 21.79 kg (lbs 48).
