The family consists of its matriarch, Kalyani Prithviraj Singh Oberoi and the families of her two sons, Tej and Shakti. Tej, the elder son, is married to Jahnvi and is the father of Omkara, Rudra, and Priyanka. A stern and ruthless businessman by nature, Tej had an affair with his secretary, Svetlana, in the past and this drove Jhanvi to alcoholism. Rudra is flirtatious and often immature, while Priyanka, their sister, is shy and diffident. On the other hand, Shakti, Tej's younger brother, is married to Pinky, and together they have one son, Shivaay who is the face of the Oberoi business empire. He is a business tycoon with a grim personality. He is arrogant, snobbish and judges people on the basis of their lineage and social status.
